Welcome to Ptolemy! A local’s review to our planet’s delights.

-P.tunia interstellar guide and sentient house plant.

When I first came to Ptolemy I didn’t think about much at all. Nitrogen in oxygen out. I focused on the big three, photosynthesis, producing oxygen, and absorbing nutrients from the little pot I lived in. Conversations were one sided with me at best. Which I feel is about the best you can expect from a potted plant. I was getting a little droopy and if I’d been able to think about it I would have admitted to needing a vacation.

Then I arrived on Ptolemy. The first stop the Alarra Volcanic Islands. I started having thoughts followed by being able to retain memories! The local algae were friendly, and inviting and from traveler accounts delicious! They welcomed me with open blooms. Travelers and locals when they eat the local algae bloom can fly and avoid being burned by the volcano. I gained the ability to think, when I started hanging around them. But, without a mouth I haven't been able to test if I gain the same benefits as folks with teeth. In fact I wonder if teeth are required to activate this ability. More research is required.

I used to have to rely on the kindness of strangers to get around. In The Midlands, The Cult of the Sun was extremely helpful, at least at night. They have a unique take on the sun which leads them to living a predominantly nocturnal life, which I'm personally unable to sustain. I feel like the sun has always been my friend. They act like the star is a malevolent goddess to be feared. Obviously mobility had always been an issue for me. Roots are made for growing, not walking. But, For the right price, Big Bob built me a magical prosthetic that attaches directly to the pot and allows me to follow the sun and see the universe. Thanks again Big Bob! One thing to be mindful of is that magic causes metal to rust in these parts. Luckily for me, my pot is made of terracotta so I was able to avoid the fees associated with getting metal treated against magic.

There is one more place on Ptolemy that I should mention. Many folks have a great time there. But, Watertown is a silly place. The last time I visited I decided I would not be going back anytime soon. I got the worst case of root rot which I think may have come from all the moisture in the canals. And then a manatee named Gifford kept trying to have me over for dinner. I’m still trying to grow back some of the leaves he ate. A friendly bit of advice If you are a plant be careful around Gifford, in fact, avoid Gifford. All the local politicians kept expecting me to squirt them in the face with water. They really are a bunch of clowns.

I’m enjoying sentience and travel. There is still so much to see on Ptolemy if you see me give me a wave and stop for a chat. I’d love to hear about what you’ve discovered or hear your suggestions on what to see next in Thesystem. I’ve heard some fascinating things about the Transition Zone.
